Northern Europe largest annual art exhibition – The Guardians of Time by Manfred Kielnhofer are also on the Nordart.

The first NordArt took place in 1999, since then it has established itself as Northern Europe’s largest annual art exhibition. The NordArt is a work of art in its own right and is designed as such each year. More than 200 international artists, selected by a jury, present a comprehensive panorama of contemporary art. Each individual work not only speaks for itself but also creates new perspectives when seen juxtaposed against the unique backdrop offered by the Carlshütte and the adjacent historical sculpture park. NordArt is accompanied by concerts, readings, film presentations and other cultural events.
Exhibition area: 22,000 square metres in the former Carlshütte foundry; 400 sqm in the ACO Wagenremise coach house; 80,000 sqm historical park and links with public places in the town of Büdelsdorf.

Some of the many artists active in the world exhibiting their work this summer in the cavernous halls of the old foundry and extensive park includes the sculptor Zeng Chenggang, director of Tsinghua University in Beijing, Richard Brixel Sweden, famous for his large sculptures decorating the door bronze of the cities in their country of origin and the sculptor Peter Lundberg U.S. began work on his sculpture in place concrete two 15 meters tall in the middle of April.

Join the discussion, learning from each other, how and exchange of experience – this was the basic idea behind the original concept for the annual Symposium NordArt, which initially focused solely on sculpture. Only in the last three years, the symposium concept was expanded to include painting and installations. About 20 artists began working on their presentations on NordArt Carlshütte in mid-May. Participants include Ton Kalle stone sculptor from the Netherlands and Russia Valeriy Pchelin wood carver, painter Huang Yng Chinese, Macedonian and Vuk Mitesvki painter – who will be working on site in his impressive 8 feet tall.
