The architects describe the building of architecture: The museum explores the views of the displacement, layers of space, extensions of water and fog that characterize the deep mysteries of alternating spatial composition of Chinese painting. The museum consists of a field of view parallel spaces and concrete walls made of black bamboo on which hangs a picture light. The tickets directly at the ground level gradually become the winding stretch of the figure above. The upper gallery, suspended in air, unwraps into a sequence of rotating clockwise and culminates in the display position of the city of Nanjing in the distance.

A grand staircase connects the ground to the gallery space upstairs. An outer wall surrounds the museum an unprecedented way, creating a barrier that complements the modern geometric structure.
